"We have a few people that have worked for us that have gone on to work on films in Hollywood. They give us access to any life-casts they have available. Then by using a process that make-up artist Tom Savini turned us on to, we create an exact copy of that life-cast in a special material. We then open the eyes and do any necessary sculpting to finish the piece. Our main intent is to use as much of the actual life-cast as possible. That is what gives us the realism that most others cannot seem to achieve. It's not so much the work that we do, but using the actors' faces is the most important thing." If you think you'd like to add these masterpieces to your cryptic collection, you can, but you'd better act fast! Only about 5 of each were cast and offered as collectors' pieces. Prop Masters tells BOX of MONSTERS that the Peter Lorre piece is long gone, and the Peter Cushing piece is almost sold out!
The first is a bust of Lon Chaney Jr. using his life-cast from the 40s! It's limited to 500 pieces, and available in both color and black and white versions! Second is a special "Flying Terror" Halloween display piece much like the ones sold through the Prop Masters' web site, the difference being that this one will be based on Lon Sr.'s vampire character from London After Midnight! And not only that, but a life-cast of great-grandson Ron Chaney will be used for an uncanny likeness. Wow! |
